The Green Chefs
The Green Chefs are doing the cooking...
The Green Chefs Initiative is a movement which encourages local chefs/cooks from a particular geographical area to cook with locally sourced or cultivated ingredients, producing traditional, time honoured recipes. This initiative will serve to enhance the offerings of our beautiful, local national park, the Knysna Lakes Section of the Garden Route National Park.
Green Chefs is an African Slow Food movement that encourages local, community based chefs to cook with seasonal ingredients and to embrace their family owned and traditional recipes. It encourages them to share their culinary heritage and the journey of the recipe as it is handed down from one generation to another with you, their very special guest.
- A Green Chef is passionate about good food and presents his / her dishes with integrity;
- A Green Chef considers and respect nature prior to and during the preparation of their meals;
- A Green Chef is proud of his / her heritage and will share it with you through a ‘food story’.
The Green Chefs’ Creed:
“I am a Green Chef. I vow to cook with love, in a sustainable manner and to respect nature. I promise to value and share my heritage and the journey that this offering of food has taken.”
